1) The main causes of suicide are depression, family or peer problems, low self-esteem, knowing someone else who committed suicide and legal trouble.

Racial minority groups definitely have higher suicide rates than the majority groups, and lower income areas have higher suicide rates than other areas, but everyone is at risk.

No, the Bible never directly condemns suicide. However many Christians feel that the commandment, “Thou shall not kill,” includes killing yourself.

Would stricter gun control lower suicide rates? – There is no definite answer to this question. Some people say yes, some say no. Statistically, the answer is yes, considering the fact that 2/3 of all male suicides are completed using a gun, but if a gun wasn’t available to a suicidal person, who knows whether they would have found another method or not?

People have different opinions on whether it is more beneficial for a suicidal person to talk to a professional or a family member. While a counselor or hotline operator has more experience dealing with suicidal people and is less likely to overreact, a family member or friend knows the person as an individual and understands his/her past better.
